Reiki Classes

Become a Certified Reiki Practitioner with Barbara Friling

Learn at your own pace and become certified at each level with these hands-on classes where you will learn all about the significance of Reiki, and perform Reiki on yourself and others. My goal is to have every student, be it Reiki I, II or III, leave the class with tools that they understand how to use and are excited to use. In my Reiki classes we spend a lot of time practicing hand positions, symbols and how to use them, and attunements to learn and gain confidence in what we do.

This is a basic hands-on class where you will learn to do Reiki on yourself and on others.

  • Receive four attunements to increase the flow of healing energy through your hands.
  • Learn some of the history of Reiki
  • Learn how Reiki works as complimentary care
  • Learn and practice hand positions for yourself and for client treatment (this is table time and everyone will give and receive a full treatment session)
  • Learn the fundamentals to establish a professional practice.
  • Receive a Reiki certificate diploma

Reiki Level II

To become a certified Reiki II practitioner, you must attend one Reiki II class. Prerequisite: Reiki Level I Certification

This class introduces intuitive energy work into the practice of Reiki. Students learn how to send Reiki and do distance healing. This is beneficial when we cannot be there in person to do Reiki.

  • Receive two additional attunements
  • Receive three traditional Usui Reiki symbols (kanji), learning how to draw them, say them and use them to send healing.
  • Learn distant healing methods to send Reiki to themselves as well as to others.
  • Practice using these techniques with amazing results.

Cost: $152
Time: Approximately 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM

Reiki III Master Class

Upon completion of the Master Class,  you will be able to teach and attune for Reiki Level l, Level ll and the Master Level. Successful completion of Reiki III will result in certification as a Reiki Master. Prerequiste: Reiki Level I & Reiki Level II Certification with Barbara Friling.

The Reiki Master class is given over a series of four weekend sessions. The weekends are spaced so that you have time to assimilate the material, and work with the Master symbol and energy.

Group Classes: Create Your Own Reiki Class

I have held classes for groups of friends who want to take the Reiki class together. Group classes are always interesting because everyone usually knows each other well and these groups tend to stay together. They are more likely to create their own Reiki Shares and healing circles for friends and family. They become a strong, supportive and cohesive group in many ways….and it is wonderful to see them grow individually as well as a group.

If you have a group of 6-12 people who want to take a class together, we can arrange a date and location that serves the whole. You have the option to use my facility or offer your own class location.

If you would like to use your own space, there are a few considerations. You will need space large enough to handle your group, keeping in mind that you'll need to fit one massage table for every 2-3 people. You'll also need seating for everyone. the class is a full day so people will need to bring lunch or we can arrange for takeout. We'll also need access to a restroom.

Don't let all the details deter you from putting your own class together. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. When it is meant to be, Spirit will guide us... we need only to ask.

Class Duration

The class duration will be determined by the number of students, the facilities available and the class level, Reiki I or II. The class could be a one day class, or a Friday evening and all day Saturday, or all day Saturday plus Sunday afternoon.

Class Locations

All classes are held at The Becoming Center, 250 N Bethlehem Pike , Ambler, PA 19002

Feedback from Barbara's Reiki Students

It has been 14 years since I was first introduced to Reiki.  I was fortunate enough to have Barb Friling as my instructor.  Barb is one of the best teachers I have ever had, extremely well prepared and organized and very caring as well.  Level I had me so interested that I took Level II soon after.

I have used Reiki ever since.  I love having it at my finger tips as a self help modality or being able to assist someone else in an “emergency”.   As a BodyTalk practitioner, I incorporate Reiki into sessions.  Level II allows me to deepen the sessions as well as provide distance sessions.

I am extremely grateful to Barb for having brought this wonderful modality into my life.

Levels I & II

I am a Reiki Practitioner. I’ve learn so much from Barbara Friling’s course at The Becoming Center. What I enjoy most about the classes with Barb is that her classes are small, you are welcome, and you are not just a number.

I took Level I twice. I took my first class with another instructor at another facility.  The class was HUGE and I felt I was just a number. I didn’t feel comfortable or welcome to ask any questions. I came home and was lost on where all the hand positions were, how long I should be in a spot, what I should be feeling for to let me know I need to move to another location. I later registered for my Level II with the same instructor but I had an emergency the day of the class and could not attend. She still said I could pay for the class and she would just attune me and answer my questions. Of course I refused. I asked who else I could go to and she referred me to Barbara Friling at The Becoming Center.

I was skeptical but to my surprise it was the complete opposite experience. It was calming, interactive, and welcoming. I took my Level II and then repeated my Level I with Barb. I then moved on to my Master level which I am almost completed! The experience at the becoming center has changed my mind on what I thought about Reiki Instructors. I thought that they were just looking for money and didn’t really care on if there students got it or not.

I use Reiki for my everyday life as well as my work. I use it on myself daily, my family, friends, peers, coworkers, and my dementia residents as well as any other resident who might want it. I use it to calm dementia residents, help them sleep, and ease their mind when they are worried or agitated. I enjoy it every day and I am so grateful for Barbara and the becoming center. I think I might have not practice Reiki if I wouldn’t have met Barbara!

Levels I, II & III

About nine years ago, I was going through some life changes with children embarking on high school and college as well as two family members journeying through end of life health issues.  At a recommendation of a spiritual advisor, LU, she suggested I see Barbara Friling.  With Barbara, I began my journey with Reiki and all of its beautiful benefits.

Barbara is a very organized, thorough, loving and passionate teacher who walked me slowly through the process of all levels of Reiki.  The Master level was a year course which she graciously extended by a few months as I needed more time.  Reiki has affected me on many levels—physically, emotionally and spiritually and has changed my life.

I have used Reiki in many different ways over the years mainly for my own family, friends and myself.  I have the upmost respect for this healing method and the way that Barbara passed the lineage on to me.  There are many, many people out there that attune and teach Reiki quickly and without much preparation or guidance.  Barbara does not believe in this way and I admire her for that.  Reiki has opened me up to the true essence of life and ultimately my life purpose.

Reiki I class over exceeded my expectations.  When I began my interest in Reiki, I did not know anyone who even knew what it was.  I started this journey completely alone.  When I first met my Reiki Master Barbara Friling, I immediately knew I was on the right track.  The teaching environment was comfortable, peaceful, and completely nonjudgmental.  From the second we walked in the door to the end of class, the day was filled with calming Reiki energy, love, and healing.  We were taught the history of Reiki, what it is, and how we can use it for self care as well as for family members, friends, and animals.

We practiced on ourselves and on each other.  With Reiki, you have to feel it to understand it and I think our Reiki Master made sure we did.  I know that many hurts from the past began to heal and forgiveness started its journey on this day.  I went on to use the knowledge from this class to further my own self awareness and spiritual journey, knowing that intention and positivity is much more important in life than I originally would have imagined.  I spent time mostly using Reiki on myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  I believe that it had a huge impact on my anxiety and ADHD as well as reconnecting with my own personal power and self love.

After taking Reiki I, I began a journey to truly understand myself, become grounded, and spiritually connected and enlightened.  What an amazing ride!  I did not take me long to realize I wanted to continue with Reiki II.  The environment was cozy, peaceful, calming, and healing.  In Reiki II we were taught more about the importance of intention, positivity, but also how to send this love and energy out into the universe.  I felt as though I was connecting more with the world around me on another level.  We learned our Reiki symbols and how to trust our intuition.  What we ask for, we shall receive if it is for the greater good.

This class brought me even closer to my true self.  We can separate from the ego much easier when we are at peace, when we breathe, and when we listen.  In Reiki II, I believe the message is to let go of the ego and listen to the true self.  We are always guided, and we won’t feel the need to always have control, but instead have faith and learn to receive.  This class brought my own sensitivity to a completely different level.  It was such a powerful, healing, amazing day.

After this class, I purchased my first massage table and began offering Reiki sessions to my friends and family for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.  I was also led to go back to school for holistic health counseling and nutrition.  I believe Reiki brought me there.

I have to say I believe I was a very lucky student for my Reiki Master training.  Barbara Friling always holds her classes with professionalism and gives in depth information.  I would have never studied with anyone else.  It is a shame because when I hear of some other teachers and how they teach their classes, I don’t feel their students are receiving the true meaning of Reiki.  My Reiki III class was held over 4-5 months.  I was lucky to have three other students in my class under Barbara.  We spent entire weekends together going over Reiki, connecting with the Reiki founders and other Reiki Masters that have gone before us.  Barbara held meditations, shared business advice, and had us go over our duties as Reiki Masters until we knew what our own unique purpose was.  Again, this course was held with absolutely no judgment.

Overall, my entire experience with Reiki has opened my mind to so many possibilities.  I am more connected to myself, others, and the universe.  Having Reiki in my life has made me a stronger, healthier, more peaceful, and loving person.  I continue to learn from my Reiki Master Barbara and my fellow Reiki practitioners.  I think it has shown its amazing healing power in studies and it’s always wonderful to hear that another hospital, hospice, or nursing home is offering this as another option for healing.  I continue to share this knowledge myself now with others and plan to teach my own classes in the future.  It has been an amazing journey and I am forever grateful.
